A graduated engineer, Arnd Becker joined the family business in 2005. Prior to this, he gained extensive experience on vessels engaged in international trade. Between 1998 and 2002 he studied at the Hamburg Institute of Ship Operation, Sea Transport and Simulation (ISSUS) and then deepened his knowledge as a ship operating officer and engineer officer aboard container ships. Since 2008, Arnd Becker steers the fortunes of Bernd Becker Shipmanagement GmbH & Co. KG. In November 2013, he also began as CEO of HSM Hanseatic Ship Management AG. In August 2015 he became the managing director of the Jebsen Shipping Partners Management and Holding and is currently in charge of the development of its activities.
Managing Director – S&P and Chartering
Jan-Peter Boehe began his ship merchant apprenticeship in 1985 in Hong Kong. Following his vocational training, he studied in London and graduated with a Diploma in Shipping. After working for several years as a shipbroker in the chartering and Sale & Purchase of vessels, he then joined in 1991 the Hong Kong-based family owned company Lubeca Marine Management (HK) Ltd. Starting in 2000, he then founded Reederei Boehe, headquartered in Lübeck, Germany. The shipping company currently operates six of its own ships (container ships as well as heavy lift vessels), two of which were contracted in China and then delivered in 2011.
Managing Director – Operations
The merchant shipping manager Max Gottwald began his career as an apprentice with Lubeca Marine from 2006 until 2009. After gathering further professional experience, among others at a London based shipbroker, Max Gottwald became a partner of Lubeca Marine in the year 2011. Since then he has been involved in running and leading the fortunes of the shipping company as managing director.
Managing Director – Crewing & Quality Management
Jan Kahrs comes from a traditional seafaring family and went from a basic maritime apprenticeship to the accomplishment of the acquisition of his Master's certificate for deep-sea navigation and then even graduated as an engineer for maritime logistics. His experience extends from the nautical and technical field to the management of his family's shipping company back in the mid-90s. Then he conducted several mergers with other shipping companies in Jork/Germany and extended the team with technical and administrative expertise. Now, as one of the managing directors of Jebsen Shipping Partners Management and Holding, he is responsible for crewing & quality management.
Chartering and Operations
Captain Bernd Becker has lead the shipping company Bernd Becker Shipmanagement GmbH & Co. KG for over 40 years. From childhood on, he has been part of the maritime world. In 1970, he acquired his Master's certificate for deep-sea navigation at the Hamburg Maritime School. Aboard the big cargo ships and the first container ships, he gained all the knowledge he still benefits from to this day. As a farseeing managing director, he has continuously expanded the family business and established with it a reliable partner in the field of maritime logistics. Within the joint venture of the Jebsen Shipping Partners Management and Holding, captain Bernd Becker is responsible for the areas Chartering and Operations.
Technical Inspection / Purchase
As a graduate in business management, Jan-Jacob Becker has been a permanent member of the family business since 2007. In 2008 he also became one of the managing partners of Bernd Becker Shipmanagement GmbH & Co. KG. He had his first contact with the maritime world during his apprenticieship at the Hamburg Sietas shipyard. He subsequently moved from the shipyard to the renowned engineering company NMF in Neuenfelde. As a service engineer for commissioning and repair of cranes, he gained a wealth of experience on board of vessels as well as on shipyards around the globe. His new challenges today include the technical inspection and the coordination of procurement in the Jebsen Shipping Partners Group.
Spiridon Ciorba is part of "Jan Kahrs Bereederung GmbH & Co. KG" as technical superintendent since June 2009. He has years of professional experience as a class society surveyor in China for Lloyds Register, owners representative (i.e. Jan Kahrs Bereederung GmbH & Co. KG ) for supervising the construction of container vessels in Romania, class advisor in Iran for Germanischer Lloyd Offshore and shipbuilding coordinator for Damen and Daewoo Heavy Industries in Romania. Spiridon Ciorba has passed a university education as a graduated engineer of mechanics in Romania.
